Law and Religion: Legal Regulation of Religious Groups, Organizations and Communities

Date(s) of Conference:

July 15-16, 2011

Location:

Melbourne Law School

Description:

Religious freedom is usually set out in international treaties and domestic constitutions as an individual right. Yet it is widely acknowledged that it has significant collective dimensions. This international conference will explore the role of law in regulating religious communities and how the law should respond to conflicts between individual and group rights. It will cover both international and comparative domestic law.
